The Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation
Launches We want to see you Better Campaign

March 16, 2010
The Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation has set an ambitious goal of $160,000 for its We want to see you Better campaign to enhance radiology services in the Tantramar region.

Robert Zwicker, Facility Manager for the Sackville Memorial Hospital (SMH), says a new state-of-the-art radiographic system will significantly improve the quality of X-ray images.  “Better images provide doctors with more information on which to base their diagnoses, which improves accuracy. This purchase will upgrade our Radiology Department to the highest standards, which will lead to better patient care and aid in staff training and recruitment,” says Zwicker.

It will replace the 30-year-old system, including the X-ray table and overhead tube, and will work in conjunction with the computed radiography system purchased from the foundation’s 2006 fundraising campaign. Together these systems will provide high-quality digital images that can be viewed by clinicians and specialists in different locations simultaneously, soon after the examination. This system is an investment in the Sackville Memorial Hospital ~ now and for the future.

Campaign Co-chairs Pat Estabrooks and Uta Bartlett state that the price for excellent care is high, but there can be no compromising when it comes to vital equipment. “That’s why your gift can make such an incredible difference; we all know someone who will need this system sometime. Let’s work together to make sure that when our loved ones are in need, they have access to the best equipment available.” say Bartlett and Estabrooks.

A number of local volunteers are working diligently to support the campaign. They hope the goal is reached by the end of June through many fund raising efforts including direct mail, staff campaign, special events and face-to-face canvassing. If you would like to make a donation, you can contact the Foundation at 364-4204, drop by the hospital, or visit www.smhf.ca.
