The Tantramar Community Health Centre

The Tantramar Community Health Centre (TCHC) was officially opened on April 21, 1991, through the generous support of area residents as a project of the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation. The Foundation built the building in response to a physician shortage in the area which was due, in part, to inadequate accommodations for the doctors’ offices. Since it was built, the Health Centre has continued to be a vital component for health care in the Tantramar region. It provides accommodations to a number of medical personnel, including physicians and an optometrist. The TCHC is one of the few that is not run by government.  The Centre is now managed by a professional building management firm, to ensure an attractive well maintained and convenient facility for today and the future. The switch to professional management has meant the volunteer Foundation Board can direct more of its energy toward philanthropic activities.
